Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you may know, my Dad suffered a stroke in September 2008.  At first he could not speak or form words at all, but after ten weeks in hospital and a year of speech language therapy he's slowly regaining the ability to speak.  He gets tired extremely easily and isn't able to drive anymore or leave the house much.  It was incredibly tough to see him go through, as he'd gone from being confident, funny, a real bookworm, articulate and seemingly knowing the answer to any question you asked him... to having trouble remembering what a banana was.  He's doing brilliantly now, and although he many never regain his full speech capabilities again, we're just so lucky that he's still here and at least provides us with some hilarious made up words we end up laughing at!  He wouldn't have pulled through the way he did if it wasn't for the fantastic Stroke nurses and the specialist Stroke ward at Clatterbridge hospital.  I also think that if my mum and I had more awareness prior to this about what is involved in a stroke and the warning signs, we could have acted more quickly and perhaps even prevented some of the permanent damage it's caused my Dad.  I want to raise awareness for Strokes as they are seemingly becoming ever more prevalent, and it's vitally important that you act quickly if you suspect the symptoms.  The Stroke Association are doing brilliant work, it's an issue extremely close to my heart so I hope you'll support me and my Dad.

I'm not brilliant with heights and I'm pretty much an 'indoor' kind of girl, so hopefully you can appreciate what a huge deal this is for me and how much bravery it's going to take me to launch myself off the Cunard Building on Halloween!

I need to raise a MINIMUM of £85 before I can do this - so PLEASE give generously!! :)
