Story
Last October I decided to sign up to support my local hospice, Saint Michael's through their Everest Base Camp Trek.
Saint Michael's are reliant on the support and funds raised by their local communities and so I'm taking on an epic challenge to Everest Base Camp with the plan to raise at least £3400 to support local people.
Our local hospice receives less than 20% of it's funding, this year the hospice needs £3.8 million to support the 2000 local people who will need support when living with terminal illness or bereavement.
I'm going the extra mile, with 10 fellow trekkers and supporters to raise as much as we possibly can to support families living and working near me who are affeted by terminal illness.
However, more importantly to me, I am doing this in memory of my beautiful fiancee, Julie... my love, my best friend, my inspiration.
I will be trekking in extreme conditions, up to 120km in 12 days. It's not just the trek itself, I have put in a great deal of preparation to make sure that me and my fellow trekkers will acheive our goal - reaching Everest Base Camp for those supported by Saint Michael's.
To help reach my fundraising goal I have been doing as much as I can, including early morning starts doing car boot sales. some of these have raised about £150, which I'm told could help to pay for 3 bereavement sessions for a child who has experienced the loss of someone important to them.
I will keep you up to date with my efforts and hopefully you will be inspired to help me reach this hugely important goal for what is such a massively important charity in our local area.
