Story
When I was asked in November if I would be willing to learn to skate on ice for a good cause, a local charity, Donisthorpe Hall, a home for the elderly, I thought wow!! What a fantastic opportunity. To be offered the chance to learn a new life skill, to learn as a team of friendly people who are part of my community and raise money for a worthwhile cause at the same time. My only concern was would I be fit enough, could I get myself into shape, I had had major surgery just two months ago!!?
Determination kicked in and here I am today, four weeks into the training, proudly sporting my very own figure skates. I’m training on the ice two evenings and one morning a week. For those who know me, will know that I love my weekend lie-ins, but I’ve given up Sundays and now venture out to meet my fellow skaters for a morning on the ice.
With our schedule potentially set to increase further as another rink is set up for more practice I really am committed to bettering myself in order to perform with the rest of the team, to the best of my ability, to a crowd of 800 + at Leeds United, Elland Road on 14 June at the Gala Dinner. Should anyone want tickets - let me know.
Please help me and help make my bumps, bruises, aches, efforts and dedication worthwhile.
Thank you
Lou Xx
