Story
4 years ago, I had the pleasure of recruiting Georgie into Eton Bridge Partners and 12 months ago she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. After enduring 6 months of aggressive chemotherapy and reaching remission, she since relapsed and is undergoing more chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Trekstock, a charity supporting young adults through cancer, have been fantastic at supporting her and almost like a second family in her battle against cancer.
On the 7th September, I am challenging "the middle aged legs" running 100km (62.5 miles) from Putney Bridge to Henley in under 14 hours! I have never run this far before (and perhaps don't plan to again!) and the physical and mental battle is only a fraction of the challenge faced by Georgie and other young adults in their battle against cancer.
Every day in the UK 34 young adults are diagnosed with cancer. Trekstock exists to ensure that no young adult in the UK faces it alone. Trekstock gets young adults in their 20s and 30s moving again physically, socially and psychologically after cancer has stopped them in their tracks. They help young adults with cancer in the UK to thrive with, through and beyond the diagnosis of cancer.
