Meningitis and septicaemia kill around 1,000 people around the world every day.
Babies and children under five and young people are especially vulnerable but anyone of any age can be affected.
Globally, up to 5% of all deaths of children aged under five are caused by meningitis and septicaemia
A third of survivors have long term disabilities, like amputation, brain damage and deafness.
£18.9m (€24.5m/$30m) invested over in 156 research projects since 1989
£1m spent on awareness and personal support to those affected every year
