Story

I am running the London  Marathon a scary 26.2 miles for Hannah. Hannah is my lovely 20 year old daughter who has Epilepsy. She is clever and funny and carries on regardless, despite having multiple seizures on a daily basis. She does not let her illness define who she is but merely gets on with life.

Hannah has had 3 operations on her brain (one where she had to be awake) and too many tests and procedures to mention but for all this she is still not seizure free.

Epilepsy affects over 450,000 people in the UK alone. Every day another 75 people are diagnosed with the condition in the UK. Far too many people do not have their seizures controlled: In the UK 30% of people with Epilepsy cannot become seizure free with current treatment. Epilepsy Research UK is funds research to establish exactly what happens to the brain before and during a seizure.

My training schedule is quite grueling with training or gym 6 days out of 7 and I find getting up at six to go for a run hard some days but Hannah inspires me and raising lots of money for Epilepsy Research keeps me focused and motivated that and knowing the the Marathon is in nine weeks!

My brother in law Mick is also running the Marathon for Epilepsy Research so he is a constant source of encouragement. Simon my husband has taken on role of coach for those of you who know him will know that he is relishing that role!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, please donate money for Epilepsy Research and pass this page/information on to as many people as you know.

I will update this page every week on a sunday to keep you posted on how the fundraising and training are going thanks again for your time Lorraine

Sunday 3rd April Training this week has been slow due to the fact that I have sinusitis and feel awful but I must persevere .We have a non uniform day at school on friday which will boost funds talking of which thanks to the people who have donated this week I believe that I will reach my target!

Well finally its one week to go!!! I have been on antibiotics for 7 days for sinusitis and feel better but very low energy levels so I am  on lots of super foods and high energy drinks and have been running twice this week so I need everyone to have there fingers crossed so that I can do the race and still be able to walk at the end!Thankyou for all the support and donations this week. We had a non school uniform day at work which was brilliant we raised £180! The children did a mini marathon round the school playground and came dressed in swimming gear karate and judo suits and football kits special mention to Connie for her lovely picture I will take it up to London.

WOW!What an amazing experience  I have to say that it rates as one of the best things I have ever done it took 4 hours and 39 minutes to run and  I will look forward to applying for next years race this coming tuesday. The crowd were brilliant calling out my name and giving support and sweets.I haven`t stopped smiling yet .I would like to say a big thank-you to Simon  Sara Jane  Jerry Charlie and Chris for coming up to London to support me and to Mick for running for Epilepsy Research his time was 4 hours 30 mins well done.Iam close to my target so if you know anyone who has not read my story please forward it on to as many people as possible only £200 to go!I have been trying to up date the photos but it doesn`t seem to want to it I will keep trying.I need a new challenge any ideas?
