I am raising money for the Martlets Hospice a charity very close to my heart.
My father-in-law passed away last year on July 12th at the Martlets. He had cancer, I could talk for ages about his story but I won't go into great detail. I could go on about this disease but I wont as I am sure that whoever is reading this has been affected by this evil disease.
What I will say is that he spent his last 6 days of his life at the Martlets, the Martlets gave my father-in-law the dignified death he so deserved. Reg was 61 years old didn't drink or smoke and lead a healthy life was the life and soul of any party (and I would wonder how he was, without a drink in him) he was a proud man, and his illness was very sudden we were not aware he had cancer until he was admitted to hospital (exactly 4 weeks before he passed away)
The Martlets main aim is to maximise the quality of life for patients and they strive to support patient choice, dignity and independence in all they do. The Martlets is a registered charity and all services are provided free of charge. It costs over £4 million every year to run the Hospice and local community support is essential to thier survival.
So I feel I have to give something back, at the moment I am questioning myself as the training has started and am up to about 12 miles (only another 14 to go ) but it will be worth it its something I have to do. i want to give something back. So please dig deep anything you can donate will be appreciated, and trust me I have seen first hand what the staff and this Hospice have to offer. My father-in -law was such a special man and I know he will be with me and my husband when we pound the streets of London. To loose him was truly heart breaking but I could not have wished for a more peaceful and dignified death and that was thanks to the Martlets.
"Life is precious right to the end"
Just a quick update its the 17th March, and I just wanted to thank everyone who has donated on my page, people I didn't expect to hear from have been so kind and very generous I can't tell you how grateful I am. Thanks.
I am still training hard, I ran 15 miles last Saturday and my legs have just started to feel a bit better today ha ha, prepareing for my next long run this weekend which will be 18 miles...... (scary thought) never mind just have to get through it. I can't believe I am doing this, I was always the last one to finish the cross country at school, getting shouted at because I was walking and talking to my friends, so quite funny really. But not long to go now and am looking foward to the big day, please keep digging deep like I keep saying its for a wonderful charity.
