Story
Five years ago I shared my act of solidarity on our blog. You can read about it here: http://lornaandmickyour-loma.blogspot.co.uk/2010/11/solidarnosc.html. I only went as far as getting my hair cut short as the weather was so cold in December I was worried my ears would fall off.
Since then I have met many ladies who had no choice but to lose their hair, the majority of whom found it quite upsetting at the time.
It appears that hubby Mike will be losing his hair again sometime this year and so I have decided that this time I am going all the way and I hope to raise a target of £2, 500. I hope to get to my target while it is still summer.
If I don't reach my target by the summer then the plan will be to shave it all off just before Mike goes in for his second stem cell transplant, which will probably be in the autumn.
So for all those ladies, some of whom are no longer around to take the "P" and for all those blokes who love their hair like Mike, please be generous.
UPDATE: Hello again. I haven't updated in ages, there wasn't much to add. The 10 months since I started my Just Giving page have seen Mike start treatment, stop treatment for pneumonia, restart treatment and actually be given a date for his SCT. Mike is due in on January 11th 2017. I now have a date to aim for, January 10th we're off to the hairdresser's!!!!
The funds raised will go Myeloma UK, who do a great job of not only supporting patients and the people who care for them, but also raise awareness, work with drug companies to create clinical trials and hopefully find that magic bullet.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
