Story
Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year they supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on their ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness. They are a charity and provide all their care for free, so rely on the generosity and commitment of supporters to raise more than 80% of their costs.
My Story......
In Summer 2022 my mental health deteriorated due to several years of thinking I didn't have a problem. I decided to take control, initially not for me but for my son Michael & husband Stuart. One of the things that I did to let me relax & refocus was to run. I started off slowly with a Couch 2 5K but then I got the running bug! I love how it makes me feel during a run, I get lost in the music, it's given me a new focus in life & it gives me much needed Lorna time!
I have signed up to the Chester 10k in March 2023 with a hope to do more races next year too. I have set up a Just Giving page in the hope that I can raise some money for St Lukes in the process.
