Story
Dear Family and Friends,
First of all, thank you for visiting my page and showing interest in my expedition.
I could not be more excited about this challenge and taking action to raise awareness for climate change and help underprivileged women and girls.
In March 2020, I will be joining a group of amazing women on an expedition to Greenland! In this once in a lifetime experience, we will cycle 200 km across snow and ice along the Arctic Circle Trail with fat bikes where temperatures can drop to –30 degrees..... brrr!! This is also the first time this will be attempted by an all female team!
Besides earning bragging rights and freezing my butt :-), our aim is to raise awareness and funds for under-privileged women impacted by climate change in Asia.
Why? Because climate change and gender equality is everyone's business, and we’re all effected directly or indirectly wether we like it or not, we are in this together and for me it's time to act and make the future a little brighter
Our expedition is entirely self-funded, which means that 100% of the funds raised here will go to UN Women. My personal goal is $5,000.
UN Women is the only global organisation dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Founded in 2010, they work at every level, to change the way the world works for women.

Every dollar counts and ANY amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance for your generosity and for being part of my story!

THE NUMBERS
Climate related disasters have led to the loss of 700 thousand lives, 1.7 billion people affected and economic losses of USD 1.4 trillion. And on top of this, climate change is disproportionally affecting women and girls, as multiple discriminations mean that women are more vulnerable in crises and post disasters situations.
THE CAUSE
Therefore I’m asking your support in raising funds for UN Women UK, and their programmes supporting the economic empowerment of women in rural areas of Asia, more specifically, in countries most affected by climate change, such as Vietnam, Bangladesh and Nepal.
THE CHARITY
UN Women was created in 2010 to direct UN activities on gender equality issues. Before then, no one organisation had the authority to promote gender equality on a global scale and address the serious challenges facing women and girls everywhere.
Our aim is to remove the social and cultural barriers that prevent women and girls from achieving their potential. These barriers exist in public policy, educational opportunity, conscious or unconscious bias, and economic empowerment.
HOW WILL YOUR DONATION BENEFIT(USD)
- $25 could provide leadership and self-esteem workshops to women and girls to give them the skills and confidence to response to these climate risk challenges.
- $100 could help to set up livelihood projects that empower women business leaders in agriculture to manage their business in at risk areas.
- $500 could help us to work with government to develop Post-Disaster Needs Assessments to inform disaster recovery strategies and national disaster management planning.
- $1000 could allow us to keep a safe house open for women and children fleeing natural disaster for one week.
