Story
Alan Ip will be wearing a kilt to work on the 18th June and some people may look. Some might outright stare. Snigger, comment, mock and certainly wonder! But these are the wages of being passionate enough to raise money for others. Alan has pledged to wear his kilt to work if it raises money for the victims of Nepal. He has further pledged that if any one individual makes a donation of £50, he will do a twirl!
I encourage you to give to the Nepal fundraising initiative that London Metropolitan University has launched. The University has launched this fundraising campaign for Nepal in response to the humanitarian crisis in the country, caused by an earthquake on 25 April and 12 May 2015. Basic items have been provided but people still need help.
London Met’s partner institution Islington College Nepal, based in Kathmandu, has nearly 1,000 students enrolled on London Met courses. A number of University staff have been to the country and developed relationships with their Nepalese colleagues. There have been student exchanges between London Met and Islington College Nepal. Architecture students from the CASS spent weeks in Kathmandu working on its infrastructure enhancement. The tragedy has affected the entire University community.
For these reasons we have decided to run a fundraising campaign consisting of individual activities taking place throughout the year. Hence, Alan in his kilt. We have already witnessed Dr Hazel Messenger abseiling down the ArcelorMittal Orbit at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park raising over £1,000. Please help Alan to help Nepal.
We hope you’ll find this campaign as inspiring as we do and get involved in helping Nepal to get back on its feet. Our fundraising events are fun and for everyone to enjoy whilst supporting a good cause.
You can see our upcoming events and follow all news stories at the London Met website. So if you can, come along, get involved and if not, we accept any donations through our official site here.
