Story
How our challenge began…….
In December 2015 whilst hanging Christmas decorations on the
outside of his house, Neil Leamey, National Account Manager Off-Trade / Export for KBE Drinks slipped off the ladder and landed on his patio, falling directly onto his head.
As he lay semi-conscious his wife called the emergency services who upon arrival determined he be air lifted to Aintree hospital in Merseyside. The North West Air Ambulance team landed next to his property and promptly transported him to hospital.
On admission to the hospital it was established Neil had suffered a Left Basal Skull fracture and transverse fracture of the left temporal bone which had he have not had received the treatment as quickly as he needed could have had a significant impact on his future health. Further to this Neil discovered that he had facial palsy which we are pleased to say he no longer suffers with. Neil was in hospital for a week and
and home recovering for a number more before he was well enough to return to work.
Neil said ‘without the quick reactions of the Paramedics and the fantastic North West Air Ambulance team things could have been a whole lot worse and I thank my lucky stars to this day that I was in the hands of such brilliant professionals”.
Here at KBE we are so grateful to the NWAA for their support with Neil and all the other lives they save and people they provide such important care for in their moment of need that we wanted to give something back.
We set ourselves this challenge:
