Story
Lois was caught in the devastating earthquake that swept Nepal on April 25th. Before her return from the disaster zone ten days later, her family began this fundraising campaign for the village she was volunteering in. Together, they are now focusing their efforts on continuing to raise funds for the people in desperate need of it.
Lois arrived in Nepal two weeks ago to teach English and Science at the school in Melamchi Ghyang, Helambu (aka Melamchi Gaon/Melamchigaun). This is situated in the Sindhupalchok district, the worst hit by the earthquake. The village was flattened, suffering extensive damage with two fatalities and four badly injured from the local community. Almost all buildings, including the school, have been completely destroyed. Furthermore, the road from the village to Kathmandu and, hence, their supply chain is marred by landslides, fissures and fallen boulders and is undriveable.
Along with most of Nepal, the school and community will need a lot of help and financial support. Community Action Nepal are directly supporting the school and village of Melamchi Ghyang. Your support will go straight to getting this community back on their feet. Please support them and give as generously as you can. Thank you.
