Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

2019 will see me take on the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust #EPT1000 challenge. I'll be walking, running and even dancing my way to 1000km. Anyone who knows me will NEVER have seen me run before (unless maybe to catch a bus, which would usually result in me styling it out as I miss it!) so this is a big undertaking.

Come rain or shine I'll be out totting up the miles. I'm also aiming to drag the children along to take part in the local "family mile" race and hopefully I'll survive my first ever 5k parkrun!

Women are still dying in the UK from ectopic pregnancies. Around 5 lose their life every year. 5 families broken apart. 5 lives stolen.

I was one of the lucky ones. In 2011 I suffered an ectopic pregnancy. It was truly the most awful time of my life. Any early pregnancy loss is horrific, but an ectopic pregnancy has the added stress of being a real threat to your own life and also a threat to your future fertility. This was an additional blow for me as it was only thanks to fertility treatment that I was pregnant at all. I didn't know if this would steal my last hope at a family. The psychological stress combined with the physical strains of requiring 2 surgeries, was really difficult to cope with. While the hospital dealt with the physical scars, it was the Ectopic Pregnancy Trust who helped me emotionally. Through them I met some wonderfully strong women who were going through the same thing at the same time. There was suddenly a world of people who properly understood what I was going through and helped me come out the other side.

I'm extremely grateful for the support they offered me, the continued work they do for other women and for raising awareness of the condition to try and saves lives.

So with my 2 babies now safely in my arms, it's time to give back. I'll try not to fall over too much!!!
