Welcome to the Nottingham Trent Kilimanjaro Challenge Campaign 2021! These incredible students are taking on the challenge of a lifetime all whilst helping in the fight against meningitis and septicaemia.

Story

In June 2022  i will finally be ticking one off the bucket list and will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the worlds tallest freestanding mountain, its peak sitting at 5895m above sea level. Covid has tried to stop off for several years so super excited for this finally to be happening!

My climb is in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation; a charity which aims to research and raise awareness of two serious diseases, Meningitis and Septicaemia. Shockingly, meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five on the planet, affecting more than 2.8 million people every year! They can kill you within 12 hours and are responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined. Students are also the second largest at risk group.

Meningitis Research Foundations work is providing better access to vaccines, health systems that can diagnose and treat children, and support to survivors of meningitis. Their aim is to beat meningitis by the year 2030. Find out more here:

Thank you for your donations big or small, it is massively appreciated and will be such a motivation when taking on this challenge!

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
