Story
Thank you for visiting our fund raising page.
We are a team called ' As Keynes as Mustard '.
We are four businessmen based in and around Milton Keynes. We want to help both extra mile and our own two local charities of The Association of people with ME - AYME and the Milton Keynes Community Foundation.
We are: Anthony Priest, Alan Bullen, Tony Leach and Garry Dockree.
In late September this year we will be cycling five hundred miles from Rouen in Normandy around a large circular route of the Loire valley. This will encompass places such as the Alps Mancelles, Le Mans racing circuit, Amboise (last home of Leonardo da Vinci), Montrichard, Chenonceaux, Chaumont and Chambord. Those of you that know your wine will recognise these famous names! With luck we might get to sample some!!
This route is covered in 3 days! so we wont be relaxing in vineyards all the time! That's still about 160 miles per day we have to cycle!
Why are we doing this .....to raise in excess of £2000 for local charity. We are raising money via Extra Mile Challenges, an organisation whose sole aim is to orgainise events that raise money for other charities. This year the money we raise will be spread over 5 charities.
Association of Young people with ME. AYME is the largest charity for children and young people with ME aged 5 to 25. They provide support, advise and information to young people with ME and their friends and families. They help break the isolation that kids and young people with ME can feel. www.ayme.org.uk
Milton Keynes Community Foundation. This is a highly successful, local independent charity that provides grants and support for children and young people, the elderly, physically and learning disabled people, arts and culture and other projects that help the local community. www.mkcommunityfoundation.co.uk
MK SNAP. In 1991 MK SNAP began working with individuals aged over 16 with learning and physical disabilities. Through their links with companies they provide real work opportunities as a focus for training in a non-pressurised, supportive environment. Work is carried out at their Milton Keynes premises where they have the facilities to make the most of each project. www.MKsnap.org
The Prostate Cancer Charity. The Prostate Cancer Charity was set up in 1996 in response to the urgent need to increase investment in prostate cancer research and to raise public and political awareness of a long neglected disease. They are now the UK’s leading voluntary organisation working with people affected by prostate cancer. www.prostate-cancer.org.uk
Royal National Lifeboat Institution. The RNLI is the charity that provides a 24-hour lifesaving service around the UK and Republic of Ireland. The lifeboat service here in the UK receives no government funding. www.rnli.org.uk
We are prepared to do the hard labour, but we need your support.
This really is 500 miles in 3 days on a push bike!
Please support us, any donations large or small, it all helps.
Thank you.
