Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2009 I started to suffer with Ulcerative Collitis, over the next 3 years I had countless hospital stays which resulted in 3 major operations. The first operation was to remove my whole large bowel due to it being completely ulcerated, which left me with a colostomy bag. The next operation was to make a J pouch from my small bowel to do the large bowels job. Once this was made and allowed to heal the next operation was to take away the colostomy bag which meant I could use the newly formed J pouch and could then start the process of getting used to the massive change!
During these years I was very fed up of being ill and in hospitals so entered a triathlon to have something to aim for fitness wise. This then lead me to enter Ironman Wales and then the Atlantic Coast Challenge which is 3 coastal marathons in 3 days.
After a year off from events I was looking for the next challenge and come across the Bob Brown Cornish Coastpath race. The race involves running the whole of the Cornish coastpath from Marsland mouth near Bude down to lands end then across to the lizard before heading to The finish at Mount Edgecome. The race will be over 9 days where the average mileage will be 28miles a day. I love coastal running and loved the idea of running the whole of the Cornish coastpath so I have decided to enter.
This will be the biggest challenge so far and could not imagine while in hospital that I could even consider anything remotely physical let alone this challenge, I have decided to do it for a charity close to my heart which is Chrons and Collitis UK to help find cures for this truly horribly disease and hopefully inspire others going through tough times like I have that there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Any donation will be greatly received no matter the amount.
Thanks Lloyd
