Story
My name is Liz and, along with friend and colleague, Gordon Downie, we are part of a team of MND Scotland supporters taking part in the Edinburgh 7 Summits Challenge!
I was fortunate to be selected to join the board of MND Scotland in 2021 and to become Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees in 2022. In that time I have learned a huge amount about motor neuron disease (MND) and its devastating affect on people and their families.
MND Scotland is the only Scottish charity providing care and support to people affected by motor neuron disease (MND), as well as funding research that is taking us a step closer to a cure.
It has been a very emotional experience to meet people living with the disease and to understand a bit about the challenges they face. It has also been humbling to meet the great team at MND Scotland who support people with MND and their families on a daily basis.
21 miles and 900m of elevation in one day is not a small challenge and we feel that we want to contribute by taking on the Edinburgh 7 Summits Challenge to help spread the word to our network of friends and wider contacts about how important funding for this charity is and what an immense difference that funding makes.
MND is a rapidly progressing terminal illness which can affect the ability to walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe unaided of those affected. We want a world without MND, so we are fundraising because we want to help find a cure for this devastating disease.
Sponsoring us will help MND Scotland to provide practical, financial, and emotional support to people affected by MND and we are truly grateful for every donation.
Thank you for your support,
Liz
