After a 'Kilomathon' last year (26.2km/16.3 miles) I never, ever thought I'd want to run a full marathon (26.2 miles).  But when the MK marathon was announced, I thought I should rise to the challenge of running my first marathon as it goes almost past my doorstep!

I am inspired by my friend and colleague, Ian Spratley, who has spent the past 5 years or so being treated for cancer, and the various side effects that have resulted.  Another friend has a son being treated for skin cancer.  There are very few people who won't be affected by cancer in one way or another during their lifetimes.
