Story
Many of you will know or know of my sister Frankie. She is 37; loves Barbies, coaches and the colour orange. She was born with a complicated and rare condition called CHARGE syndrome and as part of her condition she is deaf/blind. For the past few years she has lived in a residential setting with lovely people looking after her but for various reasons they do not sign and do not understand the complex communication needs of someone who is deaf/blind. We have searched long and hard for a home for Frankie where she will finally have people around her to communicate and interact with again. We have everything crossed that she will move very soon 🤞. The home is run by an organisation called SENSE: the deaf/blind charity. They have supported my sister since she was little and many thousands of others across the country.
And so for my final race I am fundraising for SENSE. In three weeks time I will be running 250km across the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan. The awesome Ultra X are organising this multi day race, in 30 degree heat with camping in tents overnight 🥵. And if that’s not challenging enough, I’ll be running with Ollie, and as many of you know… I run alone 😬!
This charity is so close to my heart and we are very grateful for all the support they have offered over the years to my family. Over the next few weeks, I’ll try to share good news stories from SENSE and the important work they do.
I know times are tight so any size donation is so gratefully received. ❤️
