Great Manchester Run 2021 · 26 September 2021 ·
I RAN THE MCR10K YESTERDAY (26th Sep) AT JUST OVER 55 MINS WHICH IS A PB FOR ME!
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR GOOD WISHES AND FOR SPONSORING ME, WHICH IS SO APPRECIATED x
I am currently signed up for the London Marathon next April, so will be starting my training for that shortly...just keep running...just keep running ;)
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. As an MFT Governor I want to fundraise for Manchester Foundation Trust Charity by being part of #TeamMFT Blue Wave and running in the Great Manchester Run 2021.
Running keeps me fit and helps keep me positive. I have been running since 2012 and the impetus to start was my son Joe being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. My Joe was born at St Marys and this November it is ten years since I was with Joe at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital A&E when he was told he had Type 1 diabetes. Having T1 means Joe's pancreas has stopped working properly, so he uses an insulin pump to manage his diabetes, as well as counting his carbohydrates in order to stay alive. The caring competent staff at RMCH really helped us navigate and survive the first months following Joe's T1 diagnosis and then worked with him until he turned 18 and moved onto Adult T1 at MRI.
My son Joe, my daughter Iona and myself have and are able to benefit from the exemplary expertise and medical services at MRI for which we are truly appreciative.
Throughout the last 18 months the NHS, including all the 28,000 MFT staff have been heroic in their care of us all.
If you have time, please do watch;

which is a snapshot of some of our outstanding MFT staff experiences during the pandemic, but it also represents everyone’s contributions, the way MFT staff have all pulled together as one team to support each other and provide the best care to patients.
Many thanks for your support. Lisa.W x
