Story
Hi Everyone!
On the 3rd of April 2011 I will be attempting the 25 Mile Blubberhouse Moor Hike, in aid of the charity I work for – Age Concern Wakefield District.
This walk is part of our target to raise £10,000 by March 2012, we have a huge target to reach so please send this request on to your friends if you think they would like to support us too
Age Concern Wakefield District is a local charity for local people and all funding has to be sourced locally. As such it relies each year on the generosity of those who give both time and donations to the Organisation in order that it can continue to care for vulnerable older people within the district.
It is easy to put to one side some of the basic issues that older people can face because we would all prefer not to think about them! But where the support of family and friends is limited or absent we often are asked to help. Through our Information and Advice Service older people are helped through a maze of financial and personal issues, trained staff work with volunteers to help relieve loneliness, offer support after bereavement or hospital admission, and run groups and activities. In any one year we help to meet the needs of over 6,000 older people and their friends and families.
With your help we can improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable older people by ensuring that they have contact with the services they need and receive the support that they deserve.
I REALLY HOPE you can sponsor me to do the hike, which will raise funds to help keep the charity’s different services going. You can read more about the services we provide at www.acwd.org.uk
Any amount donated would be much appreciated, and anything from 50p up to £1 a mile would be absoloutley brilliant!!! : )
