Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 24th September I will be taking part in the Aspire Solent Swim. This is an open water 2.5 - 3.0 mile swim from Gosport to the Isle of Wight (hopefully avoiding the P&O ferries, tankers and the jelly fish). As I have never undertaken an open water sea swim before (discounting heads up breastroke on holiday), I am both nervous and looking forward to what will certainly be a challenge for me (I don't like the cold, fish or swimming out to sea!).
This event is run by the charity Aspire .... Every eight hours, someone in the UK is paralysed by spinal cord injury. For these people, their lives will change forever. Things we take for granted like getting out of bed or getting to work have to be relearned. It’s a difficult process, and the right support is essential for people to regain their independence.
Aspire is a national charity which provides practical help to people with spinal cord injury. Through grants, independent living advice, accessible housing and specialist technology it ensures that spinal cord injured people have the help and equipment they need to get on with their lives.
