Story

On Saturday September 9th I will be taking part in Trek 26 South Devon Coast. My daughter Squirt(Bethany) has decided to join me for this one too. This event is run by the Alzheimer’s Society. The help and support I have received from them has been much needed so I feel proud to be taking part in Trek 26 to raise funds.

In April last year,Andy who I have been with since I was 16, was officially diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Alzheimer’s and it’s been the hardest year of my life whilst I help him to navigate this terrible disease and watch as the kids lose their Dad and their Grandad to it bit by bit .I’m more his carer than his wife these days but when I walk I remember how we used to walk, hike and climb all over the world and it brings me peace inside.

At 26 miles this will be a huge challenge for me and Squirt, however worth every scrap of our pain, sweat and tears we have in us!
