Story
In August 2011 my dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and our world fell apart. We were told that this had spread to his liver and was inoperable but forever the optimist my dad decided to put on a brave face and was determined to fight this disease. After undergoing bypass surgery he began a course of chemotherapy and even though this took it out of him on occasions he would always have a smile for us and never complained!
We were eventually told in January that the chemotherapy was no longer working and our brave dad lost his fight on the 14th February 2012 at home just 6 months after being diagnosed.
Our Dad was a man loved by all that met him and played an active part in organising fundraising events in the village where he lived including raising money for: The Butterfly Hospice, the village football club and a new play area for children in the village.
This is why my sister and i started back up a local sponsored walk which used to take part in the village many years ago and that Dad helped out at and enjoyed so much.
This will be the fourth fun day and we have raised lots with everyone's kind support for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
So this year 'Forget me not' fun day-Sunday 3rd July is for you Dad and we know you will be walking by our sides and supporting us as you always have.
All the money raised will be going to Pancreatic Cancer UK so they can continue their fantastic work.
