Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. I appreciate it deeply, and would appreciate it even more, if you took the time to read my story and Raleigh's story in the next few paragraphs. Hopefully, in the end, I would have convinced you to donate some money to my fundraising efforts.

Now, what is Raleigh International?Raleigh International is a UK-based youth development charity that aims to inspire young people from all backgrounds and nationalities to reach their full potential through working together on challenging projects, benefiting the environment and communities around the world. You can read up more about Raleigh at http://www.raleighinternational.org/where-we-work/borneo. Don't worry! It is a registered charity, which has been around since 1978. So, your kind donations will definitely be going a long way!:)

From the moment I first heard about Raleigh International, I knew that it would be one of those things that I HAD to do in life. I instantly placed it on my imaginary bucket list. I still remember reading the article in The Star as a nine-year-old kid, describing Prince William’s expedition to Chile during his gap year. At that point in time, it was a dream that seemed so far-fetched and unreal, yet my imagination as a kid encouraged me to continue dreaming. Fast-forward 10 years into the future and here I am writing this, to raise money for my Borneo Expedition in June 2012. It seems like such a full circle moment that people so often talk about.

I will be volunteering on a Raleigh International Expedition to Borneo (Sabah) from 24th June 2012 to 11th August 2012. This amount raised will help fund necessary community and environment projects such as:

-       Kindergarten construction

-        Community marine park development

-        Trekking trails development

-        Gravity feed water systems construction

-        Supporting infrastructure development

-        ...And also to support me over the 7 weeks in these projects.

In line with the Raleigh spirit of courage, drive, discovery and integrity, all venturers (participants) are encouraged to raise their own money for their respective expeditions.

In my effort to raise money for my expedition, I'll be participating in the PJ Dawn 2012 run (12 km category). Training for the above event, is currently underway and is going quite smoothlyJ. Now, the way I plan to raise money through running is through your kind donations. I run and you donate! It’s as simple as that.

There are 2 ways to go about donating money:

1) Pledge a fixed amount of money for each kilometer I cover. The minimum I ask for is, RM(Ringgit Malaysia) 10 for each kilometer covered. So, for example, if you pledge RM 10 for 12 kilometers, you would have to donate RM 120. Of course, you could also donate RM 20, 50, 100, and so on for each kilometer I manage to cover.

2) A lump sum donation is also most welcome!:)

The JustGiving website that you’re currently on is a UK based website, that manages transactions in British Pounds (£). For those of you who do not make transactions in £, you can simply usehttp://www.xe.com/ucc/, to convert your respective currencies to £. Or you can simply donate using £ as your currency right away, and make me a very happy girl!:)
