London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·
I thought I'd try to make my life a little more interesting by attempting to complete the 26.2 mile Marathon in 2017! I like to set myself challenges and goals; there is nothing like this one!
I am running the London Marathon on the 23rd April 2017 to raise money for the fantastic District Nursing Teams at Whittington Health NHS Trust. The community district nursing teams at Whittington work across two London Boroughs (Islington & Haringey). The nurses, pharmacists and a range of support staff who provide care and treatment to adult housebound patients work incredibly hard in often challenging conditions and in all weathers, 24-hours a day, to manage complex patients in their own homes. They see around 270 000 patients per year. District Nurses prioritise supporting patients to remain independent at home wherever possible and also respond quickly when patients are discharged home from hospital. An important role the nurses have is to look after patients who wish to die at home.
The funds raised will go towards helping District Nurses and make visiting patients much easier by buying low cost reconditioned G-Wizz electric cars that the nurses can use when visiting patients at home. If enough money it will be used to support ongoing training by purchasing good quality training equipment.
