Story

Here we go again!

After completing the virtual London Marathon in 2020 my time has come to run London in London and MS-UK have very kindly offered me a spot on Team Purple once again to run for them.

They have not asked for any additional sponsorship but if you wished to donate I know it would be very much appreciated both by me and MS-UK <3

A lot of you know my reasons for wanting to fundraise for MS UK… but some of you won’t so hopefully the below helps you understand why this means so much to me and how determined I am to reach my fundraising target and cross the finish line of the London 2020 Marathon!

I’m not entirely sure when my mum was officially diagnosed with MS but certainly since I was about 15/16 her MS got progressively worse each year (secondary-progressive MS). Her left leg was worst affected making walking a daily struggle, she would often fall in public and be left humiliated and of course, hurting. She didn’t utilise any of the medications / resources / care / community available to her. She suffered in silence.

In September 2013, she was admitted to hospital for an unrelated skin
infection. On discharge she was largely house / bed bound as her MS became increasingly aggressive, spurred on by a weakened immune system. A combination of all of the above led to her suffering a pulmonary embolism and passing away on 26-09-13.

I don’t need to tell anyone how hard losing a parent is, I am completely
and utterly lost without my mum and even 6 years on it’s as shitty as it was then!

I was too young, selfish and naïve to take control of the situation for
mum. I want to run the London 2020 Marathon in memory of my mum and to raise funds for MS UK to be able to help others suffering with MS because of this. MS is misunderstood, it effects everyone differently and is completely unpredictable. I want to play my part in changing this.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating towards my fundraising target. This is a massive goal for me and I am 100% dedicated to it!

Thank you!
