Story

The Lions MMA Bradford team are taking part in the Coast 2 Coast (C2C) 140 mile bike challenge on the 22nd and 23rd of May, which is less than 3 weeks away!

The route runs from the scenic coast of northwest England in Whitehaven and goes through the Northern Lakes and over the Pennines before reaching its conclusion on the shores of the North Sea in Tyneside which is a total of 225 km.

Two members of the Lions MMA Bradford team - Kully Singh and Harman Singh decided to do this challenge on only 3 weeks notice, which means a lot of training will need to be done in such a short space of time - good luck lads!

We are raising this money for two reasons, both of which Khalsa Aid have been actively helping with:

1. To protect and provide aid to Farmers (Kisaan's) currently protesting against new farming laws in India.

2. For more oxygen concentrators in India which are in huge demand due to the ongoing Covid-19 worldwide pandemic.

Khalsa Aid have been supporting the protests on the ground since it all began last year through their India team, who are working to provide Langar and other essential commodities during the last few months.

There have been a lot of disturbing images and news being seen across social media and on news channels all around the world regarding the protests. There has been ongoing police brutality and state oppression inflicted on the farmers who continue to protest peacefully, demanding the repeal of the three flawed and very controversial agricultural laws.

We are currently witnessing a humanitarian crisis in India of proportions never witnessed before as medical infrastructure is buckling under the pressure of the global pandemic. There have been at least 300,000 new infections every day in the past week, with cases continuing to rise at unprecedented levels.

As Panjab now prepares for an increasing number of Covid-19 cases, Khalsa Aid are launching a Punjab and India Medical AppealKhalsa Aid are also currently supporting medical networks across India, comprising of established medical organisations, facilities and NGO’s who are working on the ground to assist COVID-19 patients.

Your generous donations will go towards the vital medical programmes to support vulnerable communities and people across India.

So please donate generously, every pound counts.

Thank you and god bless.
