In the last year my sister in law Doreen and her husband George both had life saving heart surgery so it was already a year to be grateful for the research and innovation that makes so many people able to lead longer lives.  Then came another very unexpected scare: - my friend Pamela while pregnant with her second child was diagnosed with heart failure.  She was 39! 

Long stay in hospital, baby delivered very early, treatment for Pamela but eventually being told she needed a HEART TRANSPLANT.  Hard and long road with finally light at the end of the tunnel.  Pamela is home with her partner Jay, son Evan and brand new baby Zack,  Long recovery still but a very happy ending.
