A fall 3 days before the Edinburgh Half marathon meant I had to pull out. I have been really struggling with walking since then - but will be starting again next week with a bit of walking and running, and plan to run a half marathon in the winter once I am on form again.

Thank you all for the amazing sponsorship which has raised a huge amount for Bowel Cancer UK. Your donation went straight to the charity, however I will let you all know when I complete the race, and once again, thank you for our support.

I'm raising money for bowel cancer UK to remember the amazing life of my friend Hilary Tooth who died of bowel cancer in 2009 leaving her husband John and 3 young children. Hilary was an amazing artist, a musician, Godly, feisty and loyal - great qualities.

I am also running to endorse and celebrate a battle won over bowel cancer! Last year my friend Steven Davis endured several months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for a bowel tumour.  Hearing the agonies of what he went through, I vowed to push myself out of my comfort zone, and run a half marathon.

Now it is 7 weeks to the race, and I am gearing up for the 13 miles - it has been a real challenge, an inspiration and great fun doing the training, even in the snow, ice and rain. My 4 legged pal Cara has loved it too! She is at ultra marathon level, and gives me something to aim for!
