Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On the evening of Friday 16th September, we will be transforming from ladylike to "ladyhike" in order to raise funds by participating in the Maggie's Night Hike. Armed with hip flasks of water and emergency rations of chocolate brownies, we will be taking to the streets of London to walk ten miles for this worthy charity.
Maggie's story:
Maggie had an idea. She didn’t like hospitals. Endless corridors, overhead strip lighting, miserable seating with no views out, not even a kettle in a waiting room. No. Those things make even the hopeful wilt.
A diagnosis of cancer hits you like a punch in the stomach. Fear takes over. You don’t know how to cope, how to access information, where to go to get ongoing support.
Maggie recognised those difficulties. She knew them only too well. When she was diagnosed, Maggie thought there should be a special place for everyone living with cancer where you could learn to feel less stressed, learn about your cancer, take stock, or just talk to someone in the same boat. No appointments. No bill at the end. Free.
Those places exist now. They are simply called “Maggie’s”.
They are open to everyone affected by cancer and all their services are free.
1 in 3 of us will face a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime. The need for Maggie’s is now. Please sponsor us and help them to build more centres and support more people affected by cancer.’
Last year Night Hikers raised over £700,000 which is enough to fund two Maggie’s Centres for a year – please help us to smash that and beyond so we can help many more people affected by cancer.

We would be incredibly grateful for any donations, no matter how small. Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
