Story
In 2022 we, Lindsay, Sarah and Helen decided to undertake the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, walking from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, incorporating 3 of the best know peaks in Yorkshire: Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough (total ascent 4531ft). We took the training very seriously and were happy to complete the challenge in 10.5 hours. For our 2023 challenge we’ve made things much harder, as we wanted to do this one for a charity: MHS Shropshire (Mental Health Support), which is very close to our hearts, as Helen’s Son suffered with depression and sadly, took his own life in early 2020. The challenge will be to scale 24 Peaks in the Lake District over two days: Day 1 - Distance = 28km / Ascent = 8202ft / 10peaks:-Red Pike, High Stile, High Crag, Haystacks, Great Gable, Scafell Pike, Broad Crag, Great End, Esk Pike and BowfellDay 2 - Distance = 23km / Ascent = 5741ft/ 14peaks:-Red Screes, Dove Crag, Hart Crag, Fairfield, Seat Sandal, Dollywaggon Pike, Nethermost Pike, Helvellyn, Lower Man, Whiteside, Raise, Stybarrow Dodd, Watson Dodd and Great DoddOur challenge for 2023 is a huge step up from last year‘s and we know its going to be tough! We are training hard and feel confident we can do it, but we realise that not only are we going to be on our feet for 24 hours, much of this will be ascent and descent (which is hard on the old legs). Please help us to raise money for MHS Shropshire (Mental Health Support) by donating. This facility, based in Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury, offers those suffering from mental and emotional distress a safe place to talk, advice and referrals, a kind ear, tea and most of all, a life line. We want to help them to be able to continue to help individuals and families that are suffering in this way, as they rely completely on donations. Please help us to do this by giving a donation. Thank you for your support 💛
