Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
My sister, Diane, had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and lost her struggle on the 29th December 2009. There is not a day that passes when we don't think about her.
Around 30,000 people are diagnosed with a blood cancer in the UK every year, and by investing in the best UK research, the aim is to find a cure and improve the quality of life for all patients touched by leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related conditions.
We walked on the 6th July to raise vital funds. It was a beautiful, very warm, summer's day; the walk taking us away from the lovely, welcoming Leigh Arms pub at Acton Bridge, along one of the 5 routes we set for walkers to choose from, and then back to the pub!! Our youngest walkers were April (4), Alice (4), and Fred (6) and they managed to walk a full mile, which was fantastic!! We all did as much as we could and, amazingly, Joanna, did the half marathon after just coming off nursing night duty!! You were wonderful Joanna. I, with the marvellous support of the best son-in-law ever (Rob) managed to complete the marathon walk in just under 8 hours. We were absolutely delighted, and more than ready for that first drink! So, a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the event, with special thanks to Garry, Val, and Dave, without whose help it would not have been possible to organise.
Thank you so much to those who have donated, to help the life saving research continue. Together, we can make a difference.
