Hello! My name is Lilly Shunk and I am a Junior at Summit High School. I was fortunate enough to be chosen to be a part of the Overlook Junior Board this year which is an amazing opportunity that I am thankful to have.

Each year, the Junior Board raises money to fund a grant that will be dedicated to a specific area of Overlook Hospital. This year, we unanimously decided to dedicate our funds to the Neurosurgery department in order to build a neuro-specific operating room.

Overlook Medical Center is home to the Atlantic Neuroscience Institute which has become one of the leading institutions in neurologic care throughout New Jersey. An average of 150,000 neurological surgeries are performed at Overlook throughout the average year. These complex surgeries consist of vascular, brain tumor and skull based procedures. The dedicated operating room will allow for an even greater number of neurological surgeries to be performed. 

Individually and as a collective board, our goal is to fundraise as well as to educate the community on the benefits of this dedicated neurosurgery operating room.
