Story
On the 23rd of July 2021 our lovely Victoria, the most adored mum and wife, died from small cell lung cancer, just within a year of her diagnosis. We miss her so much.
She taught us what it truly means to be brave and resilient, even when things are scary. In the midst of grief, a confusing and all-consuming journey, we want to challenge and push ourselves, and in honour of her memory, we are planning to cycle from John O'Groats to Land's End in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Preparing for the big cycle (otherwise known as ‘JOGLE’ - John O’Groats to Lands End) is a serious commitment. We are doing weekly training in the British winter, enduring near freezing temperatures, bruised bottoms, aching knees and 2 cases of COVID-19. It’s a bit of a mental battle as well - convincing yourself that you can keep going, that your body can definitely do it, it’s just your mind that is unsure. In those moments it helps us to think of mum, and all the pain she went through. If she did that with such dignity, we can surely do this for her.
We are planning the cycle for spring 2022, departing from the very top of Scotland on the 14th of May and arriving at the very tip of Cornwall 12 days, and approximately 874 miles, later.
Cancer Research UK is an incredible charity that helps to fund vital research for those living with cancer, and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
