Story
On Sunday the 11th September I will be running The Great North Run, a half marathon.
Whilst this is a BIG matter for myself, I am also doing it for a charity GROUP B STREP SUPPORT (GBSS) and wish to raise as much as I possibly can, both financially, to suport the charity, but most of all to raise more awareness of this life threatening GBS Infection in newborn babies.
In the UK, only half of pregnant women and new Mums have heard of group B Strep.
Every baby and parent should be spared a lifetime of pain and suffering if it can be avoided by a simple routine test and precautions throughout labour.
Unfortunately testing for Group B Strep is NOT routinely offered on the NHS.
I believe that every pregnant woman should be routinely tested, made aware and educated on B Strep Infections by her GP, midwife or healthvisitor.
We must do all we can to make expectant mothers aware of this - it's preventable and so therefore the more awareness that we raise, the better!
Please help me raise awareness and inform as many new and expectant parents about Group B Strep as possible.
Tell your family and friends and feel free to share my link to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity to keep fighting this cause!
THANK YOU!!!!!!
