Story
CYE is such an incredible place to be!
The centre seeks to show God's love to everyone who walks through it's gates. We are all about life to the full; the exciting activities such as sailing, kayaking and assault course are a fantastic context in which to explore what life to the full looks like. Working here is such an opportunity to serve, whether that be by washing up, sailing children to the beach or sharing a morning thought with the staff team.
As a Trainee Activity Instructor I have been invested in by the centre on so many levels. Practically, hours of coaching have been put in to train a novice to the standard required to be a paddling coach and sailing instructor, and good food and accommodation have been provided. Professionally, I have been invested in as the centre have monitored our development, explored what our strengths are and given us responsibility to push and develop us. Spiritually I've been invested in too, as the discipleship program, mentors and regular spiritual input ensure personal growth and opportunity to explore faith further.
Having been invested in so much, it only seems natural that Team Trainee are given the opportunity to give something back! We want to invest in the centre, and have 2 days to do so. The challenge we have set ourselves is:
We are going to climb mountains in the Lake District whose names spell out the initials of the centre - CYESC - in under 24 hours.
Scarfell Pike is the most well known of the peaks we will summit, and we will also climb Helvellyn en route. It will be an epic day of walking, challenging, and including peaks which add to greater height than those of the 3 peaks challenge! Do ask for more information on the walk itself if you are interested. The target is to raise £500 each, as our way of supporting and saying thank you to the centre which has had such a positive influence on each of our lives. May it continue to bless others for years to come!
