Story
Update! The ride was a fabulous experience with great support from the crowds that lined the route. The cheers and encouragement helped to relieve the aching parts! Finished on The Mall arm in arm with Jack, making the perfect climax to one of the best days I have ever had on a bike. Thanks to everyone who has pledged or donated. There is still time do donate if you have yet to do so.

On Sunday 4th August I will be joining over 20,000 cyclists on a 100 mile ride through London and Surrey. Jack is coming to help me complete the course and I know we will have a great day, enjoying the sights and sounds of the event.
Training is going well. With Jack and some friends I completed the Norwich 100 on 1st June so I know I can do the distance. The route for this ride includes the famous Box Hill in Surrey so the next part of the training will have to include some hills! In late July I will be doing the Way of the Roses ride with four friends. That route goes across Lancashire and Yorkshire and if my legs survive I will be ready for the big day!
28.July - I haed just returned from the WOTR ride. It was the best training camp I have ever been on - 170 miles over three days with some big hills to build up the legs. Quite different to Norfolk! So, well prepared for the big day and really looking forward to it> Thanks for reading this and for any support you can give.
Just to be serious for a moment, would like to say - Sense is a charity for people who have a combination of sight and hearing loss, the two impairments together increase the effects of each. I am fortunate that I am[still!] able to take part in days like this but I know that people with deafblindness are much more limited in their capacity to experience life. Sense can give tremendous support to the deafblind and their families so I am really please to help by fundraising. Some examples of how the funds may be used include
£5 – could buy a set of musical bells to help stimulate even the tiniest amount of a deafblind child's hearing in music therapy.
£7.50 – could pay for a deafblind child to experience sailing and feel the wind on their face on their Sense holiday.
£15 – could pay for a tactile book for use at a Sense family centre to develop a child's sense of sight and touch.
£25 – could buy an interactive light tube to help stimulate a deafblind child's remaining sight.
£50 – could help pay for a deafblind child's vital first assessment.
£250 – could kit out a home with sensory 'trails' enabling the deafblind residents to identify specific rooms, stairs etc, enabling them to live in a safe, secure environment.
£500 – could pay for a child to undergo a specialised educational development assessment to establish what their learning abilities are.
