Brighton Marathon 2017 · 9 April 2017 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

After a stroke on Christmas Day in 2014 I had change my lifestyle. I retired after 25 years as a teacher, lost 5 stone within 6 months, remember how to read and write again and for the first time since I left school, do exercises! After 8 weeks of exercises in Winchester University Sport department, I enjoyed using the treadmill and using free weights. Since then I joined membership with Fleming Park Gym and prepared for the Andover 10K. I then went on to the Great South Run. 10,693rd place out of 25,000, that was great for an old man! So now I have 6 months to train for the 26.2 miles Marathon in Brighton.
