Story
Thanks for visiting my page! My name's Liam and I'm a 23 year old uni student from North London.
Severe anxiety ruined my teen years and meant I found it extremely difficult to develop and make friends like everyone else. This led to a lot of bullying in and out of school. The words 'weird' and 'loser' were common due to being quiet and anything I liked or did was mocked. Overall I felt utterly worthless, but in 2012, I sought medical help. It felt very degrading to take that step, but it was the best decision I ever made. My life has since taken a new turn and despite still being naturally introverted, my aspirations, self-esteem and circle of friends is stronger than ever.
YoungMinds helps raise awareness for kids and young people with all kinds of mental health issues but also provides support for parents and removes the stigma of asking for help when it's needed. This is something I once would have benefited from greatly and it should be easily accessible to anyone in the same situation.
You can't stop bad stuff from happening in life, but you can change the way you see or handle it. It's not bad to admit there's a problem. Don't accept a casual "pull yourself together". Seek genuine caring help. We all have the right to enjoy ourselves and live how we want.
A donation of any size would be greatly appreciated, as would simply sharing the link to this page. Meanwhile, I look forward to fulfilling an ambition on Oct 3rd!
