Story
Sadly on the 1st April 2020 our Dad, Matt Walker, passed away after being diagnosed towards the end of 2019 with an aggressive and rare form of cancer. It had already been a hell of a year as (many of you will probably know) his dear wife and Nana to our kids also passed away just 7 months ago, also from cancer.
It has been a deeply upsetting time for us all and we are truly heartbroken at the loss of our lovely Dad. A kind, generous, loving man with a huge heart. A family man that would go to the end of the earth to help those that needed him. Dad was also a great friend to so many and that has been so clear to Elliott and I over the last few months. He loved to have fun, always brought something extra to the party (in particular if he could dress up!)
However this page is not about him; it’s about the most amazing people we have ever met. The easiest way to describe them is Angels walking the earth. The most caring, compassionate, professional and loving people you could ever hope to look after you. I am of course referring to the staff at St Luke’s Hospice, Plymouth.
It’s difficult for us to put into words what they have done for our family, not once but twice, and without hesitation. Nothing was too much trouble and the care they provided Dad, Ange and us was incredible.
We can’t thank them enough but what we can do is try our hardest to raise some money for them. St Luke’s relies on charitable contributions and its chain of charity shops. As you will all be aware, currently not one of their shops is open and their fundraising events have all been put on hold. So if you can spare a few quid, you can be assured that it is going to such an amazing cause.
Normally we would ask for donations at the funeral, but in these current times, the funeral we planned together sadly won’t happen and it will be a short ceremony with immediate family only. With a celebration (party) of life later in the year.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your love and support.
Elliott and Lewis. X
