Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In January a team of Rock UK Instructors are flying out to Lesotho to serve alongside a project called The Durham-Lesotho Link.
Thousands of children in Lesotho are being orphaned as a result of
the AIDS pandemic. The number of Child Headed Households is increasing rapidly where children as young as 10 years old are left to look after siblings, with very little support or resources. The LINK provides respite breaks for some of these young carers from rural areas, giving them the chance to be children again for a weekend whilst the staff look after their little brothers and sisters. The young carers are also given basic life skills training and practical support on their return home.
We are raising funds to run a residential during our visits, but to also buy new equipment for the Link Centre in Maseru. We hope to buy 2 new canoes.
We'd be so grateful if you would help us bless this project.
It costs £90 for a young carer to be given the chance to be a child again for a weekend, and £700 for a new canoe!
