Story
At the end of July 2020 on the last day of my annual leave I was enjoying a beautiful cycle ride in the Trossachs with my husband. We had gone around 19 miles then black... According to my husband, as I don't remember I came off my bike, landing on my head. I was knocked unconscious and remember little of events. However the Scottish Air Ambulance came to my rescue and took me to QEUH. I do remember their reassuring voices and relief that they were there to help. I was probably 1-2 hours from the hospital by road and I think it was around 15 mins by air.
I was very fortunate and have no lasting damage apart from a slight lingering shoulder injury and since my bang to the head I no longer want to eat meat or drink coffee!, very peculiar. Don't know what that is all about!!! I used to love coffee!! Oh and my husband states I am grumpier than previous,( not true!).
I was so grateful for the help of the SAA and all at QEUH.
I want to raise money for SCAA as I realised first hand how vital air ambulances are and the incredible job their crew do.
I have only ever cycled to keep myself fit and healthy so taking part in the Etape Calledonia cycle event is a huge challenge for me.
I have not been out on my bike since the accident probably more related to psychological reasons than physical.
When I realised I could fundraise for SCAA by cycling the Etape Caledonia, I thought, first and foremost what an incredible cause and secondly I will have to conquer my fear and get back on my bike.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page. Please help me raise money for SCAA so that they can continue their vital work in partnership with our funded helicopters.
