Story
Well, September is on us and we finally get the chance to take our scarf “On Tour”. September is also World Alzheimer Month as well as being Alzheimer Scotland’s 40th Anniversary. World Alzheimer Day is September 21st so that is the long awaited day when we will be taking the scarf up and round the Glenfinnan Monument!!
September 19th – 20th is Alzheimer Scotland’s Memory Walk Big Weekend so on the 19th we will be walking across the Skye Bridge with the scarf and then perhaps on to Eilean Donan Castle to display it there also. Later in the week it will be going up to Ullapool and will be decorating the ferry terminal.
We have received over 300 knitted and crocheted squares from all over Scotland. We’ve added a map to the gallery of pictures showing all the places the squares came. We are enormously grateful to all the people who took the time and the cost of the wool to do this for us. 🙏🙏🙏 Have a look in our gallery for pics of the scarf’s progress and some of the amazing squares that have been donated.
You’ll be able to see how we get on in both the West Highland Free Press and the Lochaber News. You can also follow our progress on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/AlzScotWestHighland.
Please donate to our Just Giving page so that we can continue to support people living with dementia not only during this difficult time but also when we resume our normal service. 🌈🌈
