St Wilfred's do fantastic work.  They have just moved their hospice to a new purpose made unit in Eastbourne.  My brother Mike is a volunteer and I know personally of the good work they do.  They are desperate for money to resource the unit and rely on donations. They support their patients and families in the most caring way.

I want to help them and I guarantee your donations will be well spent.  On a personal note, as a 61 year old, I am a bit out of shape.  This is a huge challenge for me which I relish.  On Friday 16th May 2014 I will be departing from the Hospice in Eastbourne to Dover.  I will be cycling 55-75 miles a day over the first 16 days with one day off arriving at Carcassonne in France.  During this period I will have luggage assistance with a vehicle to support.

After this I'm on my own.  This will be the toughest part of the route with 2400 metres of mountains to climb.  I will cross the Pyrenees via Andorra to Spain and on to Barcelona.  The journey mileage will be just over 1200 miles.

I have lost 2 stone and I'm in training, I've joined a gym, where I do spinning classes (cycling training), I've got a new road Bike fit for the job.  I go out and road train around Eastbourne, weather permitting, looking for every hill in the area. Talk is cheap though! It won't be easy, I will work hard for your sponsorship money.

You can monitor my road training on 'Strava' web site where there are all sorts of statistics available. Please follow and support me in this worthy cause.

I will be updating the site with my progress and photographs.

1p a mile equates to £10.  Thanks so much for your support I really appreciate it.

Kind regards Les Jones
