Story
My name is Leo, I'm 12 years old and I've been drumming since I was 5.
As it's my Bar-Mitzvah coming up this Summer I wanted to use my drumming skills and I've been learning about how music therapy can help children with special needs, so I decided to approach Gesher Primary School to run drumming workshops for them.
Gesher Primary School is an independent Jewish school providing an amazing learning environment for kids with special educational needs. Including language, communication and social pragmatic difficulties, as well as autism spectrum challenges.
For each session I bring my drum kit into the school so the children get an opportunity play, learn rhythm and make lots of noise.
I am also taking part in a Bnei Mitzvah mountain climbing challenge to raise sponsorship money for the school.
“Climbing England’s 3rd highest mountain won’t be easy but I am determined to rise to the challenge. Thank you to everyone who generously helps me support the amazing Gesher School” - Leo Laifer
