Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My friend Steven Waddell and I are doing an off road cycle, in costume, down the Red Trail at Glentress Mountainbike Centre, just outside of Peebles on the 18th of August 2012.
I am blessed to have an amazing godson called Dean who has Cerebral Palsy. Dean has defied the odds, turning 17 years old this May after his parents were told he wouldn't live past 2 years old and would probably never smile. Dean and his family have been fortunate to receive respite through CHAS at Rachel House in Kinross where they can spend time together doing activities or just chilling with the added support of the dedicated staff.
I have been lucky to have had the opportunity to spend time with Dean and the family here and can't express enough how welcome I was made and what great work the staff do. CHAS needs to raise over £7 million every year to continue to provide their specialist services which include short planned stays in the hospice for the child and the whole family, emergency care either in the hospice or the family home and bereavement support after the death of a child.
CHAS has already done so much for Dean and his family for which I will always be grateful, and feel that now is the time for me to give something back by way of a 'Thank You'.
