Story
In January 2012, my cousin Leila was diagnosed of a rare form of leukaemia when she was only 18 months. Her and my family’s battle lasted till September 2014. This year I've decided to raise funds and awareness for children cancer in conjunction of the toughest triathlon event that I'll probably ever do:
Ironman Weymouth - 11 September 2016
2.4 -mile (3.86 km) swim
112-mile (180 km) bike ride
26.2-mile (42 km) run
Here below is an extract of what my aunt Adriana wrote last September after one exact year.
Thank you all for your support!
Lelio
"So, in memory of Leila, I ask for your help. Help in children cancer. Make it known, make this a subject that is not taboo simply because it’s too hard or difficult, contribute however you feel like it: help in research. I can give you addresses if you need it. Or otherwise, play with the ill children or their siblings, help hospital to give bigger rooms, help the families by cooking for them (for us it was vital and a great sign of affection!) . There are infinite ways.”
PS: please also donate blood if you can. 15 transfusions were needed for her life in the last month only!
