Story

I finally did it!!!!!!! ON 20th June at just before 5pm I crossed the line at Lands End and recieved my medal from James Cracknell!! It was a fantastic event and a brilliant challenge but it was double tough and at times I wondered why I ever signed up for it!! Having met the guys from the Paralympics team, I know this is the right charity to support - they are so dedicated to their sports and are operating at such a high level of performance it was breathaking to see them in action! Thanks all for your support!!

Chris

On behalf of all the athletes and staff at ParalympicsGB I’d like to thank you for choosing to support ParalympicsGB through the Deloitte Ride Across Britain 2010.

We’ve got the greatest respect for everyone signing up to take part in this magnificent event, and we will help you through the journey by providing some hints and tips for your fundraising efforts and providing resources if you need them. I see your fundraising target is £5,000 - that’s a fantastic goal and we will do everything possible to help you smash your target!

The British Paralympic team produced an incredible performance in Beijing, finishing second overall behind hosts China and winning an incredible 102 medals, 42 of them gold. With the next summer Games on home soil, we now have a once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire the British public, changing the way people with a disability are perceived through the exceptional performances of our athletes, and improving the opportunities they have to participate in sports at all levels.

The next three years are crucial: we want to ensure we’ve done everything possible to help and support the athletes, and your fundraising will mean we can invest more money in more athletes to ensure a bigger, better prepared team than ever before and increase their chances of winning more medals. The money you raise will help us support the team and ensure they receive the same preparations as the Olympic team – Paralympians train just as hard as Olympians yet need a greater degree of medical support to help them compete against the world’s best whilst dealing with the various issues their disabilities bring, so your support really is invaluable.
